Home to the third largest Shaker community in the United States from 1805 until 1910, SVPH manages the country's largest private collection of original 19th century buildings and is the largest National Historic Landmark in Kentucky. Onsite amenities at SVPH include overnight accommodations, dining and catering services, retail shops, event and meeting venues, riverboat rides, historical exhibitions and tours, farm and garden area, nature preserve, multi-use trail system, equestrian stable and an extensive calendar of special programs, activities and events.

The Marketing Department supports the mission of Shaker Village by sharing the stories of impact that make the Village special and inviting others to become part of that story themselves. 


Position Summary: 

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced marketing and communications office providing support to the marketing and sales and information teams. Duties include copy writing and editing, social media strategy support, ongoing website, blog and mobile app maintenance, generating templated collateral, event support and more. Must have good communication and computer skills and be able to juggle many tasks at once.


  1. Assist marketing and communications team with various tasks, including communications collateral development and distribution and branding projects
  2. Creative copywriting and industry standard copy editing, preferably in AP style
  3. Support social media strategy (i.e. generating posts, tracking metrics)
  4. Assist in ongoing website, blog and mobile app maintenance
  5. Assist in the implementation of new media to enhance user experience
  6. Video production for marketing needs
  7. Generate templated signage (in-house and events), daily schedules, forms, menus, planners, documents, presentations, business cards, etc.
  8. Update daily digital dashboard in welcome center experience
  9. Assist in the management of online shop
  10. Assist in event planning and execution (including day of support)
  11. Work collaboratively with the marketing and sales and information teams to brainstorm and develop creative marketing strategies
  12. Communicate consistent and accurate information about Shaker Village mission and programs
  13. Other duties as assigned

  10. Willingness to learn, study and become knowledgeable about all Shaker Village activities, special events, amenities and guest experiences, requiring constant research and collaboration with the marketing team and other staff as needed
  11. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes some evenings and weekends
  12. Strong computer knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook required

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  2. Minimum two years marketing (or related field) experience
  3. Must possess advanced MS Office skills
  4. Adobe Creative Suite proficiency preferred
  5. Hiring subject to background check
  6. High standards of quality and personal integrity
  7. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment 

Mental and Physical Requirements: 

  1. Ability to maintain concentration with constant time pressures while meeting deadlines
  2. Ability to maintain visual attention for considerable lengths of time
  3. Ability to sit and stand for considerable lengths of time at times in confined spaces and close proximity to other employees
  4. Ability to operate computers and general office equipment. Performs on-hand duties such as: phone and email inquiries, data entry and generating reports.
  5. Helps to setup for events and other functions as needed 

Working Environment and Conditions:


  1. Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  2. Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  3. Noise level is usually moderate.
  4. This position will require working weekends, holidays and some evenings as needed.
